Spill the Tea: The minivan denial story

Did I ever tell you about the time we bought a minivan?

It was the same week that I turned 30. It felt like a double whammy of “you’re getting old”

But it just so happened that we got a really good offer on our Honda Pilot, and found a really great deal on a minivan previously owned by a retiree, all at the same time that I felt like the years of my youth were over.

I was so resistant at first. I would wipe pretend tears off my face every time I got in the new van to show Dan my disapproval. Even our oldest wasn’t too pleased because the Pilot had a TV in the back seat.

As the weeks went by I started seeing more and more plus sides to having a van.

  • Getting the girls in and out was easier.

  • Carpooling became a thing again.

  • And the trunk space was insaneeee.

So even though I was super resistant and in denial at the start, the benefits quickly outweighed the fact that I was officially an old lady in a minivan.

When you’re running a business there are certain things we can feel resistant to or in denial of.

Like denial that as much as we dislike having to create consistent content on Instagram, it can work.

Resistance towards making bigger investments and outsourcing even though we know that it’s a part of growing a business.

Denial that we really do have what it takes to be successful.

When you push through the resistance and the denial, you could be pleasantly surprised at what’s on the other side.

  • More leads.

  • More consistency.

  • More confidence.

What are you feeling resistance towards, especially as we’re starting to close out 2025?

If one of those things is starting your email list I’ve got just what you need. The Email Starter Kit outlines everything I know about starting and nurturing your email list (with or without a freebie)! It’s free and you can get it by clicking below:
